Just the usual
Oct. 29th, 2009 | 03:01 pm
I'm:: United Kingdom, Scotland
I knew I'd jinx myself.
Like, the day after I say I'll update regularly, I get the flu. Bloody typical.
Well, updating quickly now. Just watching the West Wing, eating some toast while I wait for my pasta to cook. I've got a big evening and need the carbs. (is it carbs?). Got the kids club, then it' straight to babysitting.
And work tomorrow at half 7. Joy.
The other day, and this is how much of a geek I am, I said to the boyfriend:
"All you're jumpers are belong to us."
Yeah. I steal all his jumpers.

Life

I'm:: at my desk
Listening To:: Top Gear on telly
I'm in a very weird mood.
Anyway, I was at the National Youth Assembly of the Church of Scotland last weekend and it was.....interesting.
Some of the weekend was absolutely amazing, and some of it was beyond awful.
I'll start with a short explanation. The purpose of the weekend (I think) is to have debates and things, then make deliverances that are presented to the General Assembly. It's for 16 to 25 year olds and it's held in a 4 star hotel (!) in Dundee. It's mostly for young people involved with the Church of Scotland but it's not exclusive. It's also technically a Christian thing and I think most people there would profess to a Christian faith although I'm not completely sure.
The Good Bits
I went with a lassie from my Church who I know, but not amazingly well. We're quite similar and it was really good getting to know her better. In a four star hotel, the first thing we noticed was that the windows were manky! Craig was there as well with 3 of his pals. Fraser, who's just lovely; Andy, who's hilarious; and Dave, who's really quiet but very witty. They were all really nice guys and since Helen & Craig were on staff, I spent most of my time with them. It was good.
Mark Yaconelli. There are no words to describe Mark Yaconelli. Aside from having the best name ever, he was a legend. He told amazing stories which had me in tears in front of 300 strangers (I don't even cry in private!), he knew the Bible well, he spoke passionately, he was fantastic. Craig, Fraser and I went and spoke to him and he was genuinely interested in everyone. Also, he was hilarious.
Craig also played guitar a few times throughout the week, and I always love to listen to him play and sing.
The Bad Stuff
There was a lot of stuff I won't get into but basically there was a lot of middle class Christianity about. Now, I don't want to sound like a total fundamentalist but most of the people there treated Christianity as a nice add on to an already nice life, not my experience of it. Nor is it how it is described in the Bible. (I just want to point out that I'm not a weirdo. If someone isn't a Christian, I would never expect them to live their lives by the Bible. But if someone claims to be a Christian then that's different)
So, leaving all that to one side - I found it hard being with so many people who bugged me. Lol. There's a certain type of girl who...
Well, I find it harder to get to know girls anyway. My brain is much more masculine I think, so I generally feel more at ease with guys. And the certain type of girl I find it hard to like is the kind that are always immaculately dressed, think they're 'it' and are very flirtatious. (Despite the fact that I get on better with guys, there is no flirtation in me. At all. Ever.) And there were plenty of those types of girls at this weekend. Perhaps I'm being harsh, and I shouldn't really judge people based on 4 days but tough. I can't help it.
It maybe would have been better if I didn't go with my boyfriend. Or if my boyfriend wasn't Craig. What I mean by this is, I think the boy is a bit of a NYA legend. It's the guitar. And the fact that he's just amazing. There's something about him that's like he's a magnet for teenage girls. And most of them are very annoying.
It can all be seemed up in one example. I was getting a lift back with Helen so I had to leave. Craig was playing and singing as people were boarding the buses and stuff so I had wait 'til he finished. He finished so I go over to say bye and give his jumper back. Halfway through a sentence, this wee guy jumps into the middle of us to give him a cuddle. While I'm standing there holding out the jumper for him to take.
Then, once she leaves and I'm trying to say goodbye to my boyfriend, another girl comes up and interrupts our conversation to ask Craig for a hug. I left quickly 'cause I was ready for punching somebody.
I know all teenage girls aren't like that, but I bloody hate the ones that are.

I really shouldn't watch Old Firm games.
It brings out a side of me that I don't like.

John Barrowman!
Apr. 5th, 2008 | 08:14 pm
I'm:: at my desk
Listening To:: I'd do anything
I'm watching I'd Do Anything.
Is it sad that I hate and love this programme? I think the love part may have to do, a bit (*cough* solely *cough*), with John Barrowman. Who is apparently taking over the BBC!
By the way, I was watching the Ellen DeGeneres show a wee while ago and she said some American's don't like watching the auditions of American Idol 'cause the judges can be too mean. That's soooooo the opposite of Britain.
[edit] Oh yeah, and I really should be studying right now but I'm so sick of reading about the Colesseum

Happy (belated) Jesus weekend - as Noel Fielding calls it.

I'm:: Craig's living room
Listening To:: some crap advert on the telly.
Hey, not been on in a while but to anyone who reads this, I'm just finished reading your entries and stuff but I haven't commented 'cause I'm not planning on being on for long. I'm just up looking after Craig 'cause he's really ill. I've been up since Sunday and I was only meant to be staying one night.
I've stolen his brother's laptop just now so I can update.
I have a question. We watched Harold & Kumar Get The Munchies last night and at the end credits, the wee woman who speaks for Sky said they've made a sequel. 'Harold & Kumar escape from Guantanemo Bay.' Does anyone know if that's true, 'cause if so that's genius!!!
Also, am I the only Glaswegian not going to T in The Park this year?
:(
